Who we are and how we met?

Back in early 2023, we were just random travellers from different corners of the world who met by chance in Homs, Syria.

Different people with different lives, all brought together by the same curiosity about the world. We didn’t know then that we would end up travelling together again, or that a few years later we would be sitting in Kyrgyzstan, building the kind of travel community we had always wished existed.

But that is what travel does sometimes.

It introduces you to people you were never supposed to meet, in places you never expected to be, and somehow, they become a part of your life.

Why did we built this community?

After Syria, we kept crossing paths. North Korea, Venezuela, Eritrea, Saudi Arabia. Long travel days, stressful moments, unexpected situations, and endless conversations over shisha.

Somewhere along the way, we realised that the best part of travel was often not just the place itself, but the people you meet through it.

That is the feeling behind this community.

We wanted to create a space for people who love to travel to find each other. Not a place for showing off. Not a place where you need to have been everywhere. Not a place that makes travel feel like a competition.

Just a place for curious people.

People who are curious about the world, about different places, about other people’s stories, and about where they might go next.

Some of us have travelled full-time for years, some of us have spent much of our lives drawn to unusual places, and some of us travel can get away for one week each year. But none of that is important. If anything, it is the opposite.

The more we travelled, the more we realised how much better travel feels when people share what they know, help each other, and make space for others to join in.

So that is what we are creating.

What is The Next Border Club?

This community is for real conversations, honest travel advice, trip stories, photos, questions, ideas, and building connections.

A place where you can ask something simple.

A place where you can share something meaningful.

A place where you might find someone planning the same kind of trip as you — or get inspired to go somewhere you never imagined going.

A place where travel feels a little less lonely, and a lot more human.

And also, honestly, a place where adults can still have fun, mess around a bit, laugh at themselves, and remember that travel is meant to feel alive.
